In the early 60's US congress approved a bill to attack targets in the US and blame it on Cuba, Operation Northwoods??? Could that mean that our government could have attacked the WTC.

As with any major disaster, people will always try to pin this on the government. There are some conspiracy theorists who claim for example, that the engine debris found at the Pentagon do not match the expected debris of a Boeing 757 jet. This totally ridiculous. It is unfortunate that people are so deranged and distrusting of our government that they would have the audacity to claim that 9-11 was a ploy. It is a disgrace to those who lost their lives, and a disgrace to the soldiers who lost their lives in the ensuing war in Afghanistan. These theorists should be ashamed.

Ask why Norad was told to stand down, and Saudi nationals were flown out of the country when NO ONE was allowed to fly.

Those could just be sad coincidences (like the border guard letting the TB carrying lawyer through customs even though his computer stated otherwise), but it's fishy no matter how you look at it.

I don't know either way, but the government scares me. I always say it's because when I was 4 and saw E.T.: what the gov't does to E.T. still bothers me to this day.

EDIT:
RE: Harley's comment about no benefit in 9/11.
No benefit? Look at gas prices and Oil Company record profits - PROFITS in the billions. We got a war out of 9/11 and wars are big business, with lots of money to be made by companies and upgrades to the military's arsenal. I'm not saying that the gov't planned it. I also don't want to believe that, but I am saying that there are things going on that are not clear cut, and yes, there is a benefit for the government from 9/11.

Congress did not consider nor approve such a "bill". The proposal was put together by several people in the DOD and was not approved or implemented.

The simple answer is no. Nor would they have any benefit from doing so.

edit: jedimorgana; sorry to hear about your bad experience with E.T. (fiction) when you were (4). I hope things work out for you in the future. Good Luck.
The oil/gas card is over played and has been trumped. Still no benefit.

If they were not directly behind it, they at the very least allowed it to happen. There were plenty of warnings that terrorists would use planes to attack buildings in the U.S. Bush, Cheney , Rice , Rumsfield and the rest LIED about it. If they would lie about that why not lie about the demolition of the twin towers on 9/11.
