What are your strategies in Pokémon? How do you choose which pokémon to use? How do you go about training them

I'm just curious, do you just pick the ones you like or do you have a system or what?

First off it depends which game your talking about. Secondly, I just choose the one's I like and I train them the most.

I try to get a team that has diverse types. Also, try to teach them different attacks that can overcome their type weakness, like teaching a water type pokemon ice beam or a fire type solarbeam.
Pretty much at the beginning of the game you are forced to choose the first 5 pokemon you catch and many times it is a normal type =/.

Pick any pokemon. train all 6 of them and use the strongest one first and the weaker ones last.

The Pokemmon i use are Legendaries and that makes them enjoyable to train.
