1. The wicked witch - knowing she could appear out of the blue once Dorothy was in Oz (knew the bits along the way after watching it once).
2. Miss Gulch trying to take Toto to get him put down.
3. Miss Gulch turning into the witch in the tornado.
4. The flying monkeys and the castle (yeh, the taking off business).
5. Worrying about Dorothy in the start of the film with the storm coming
6. That something bad had happened to Auny Em when Professor Marvel says he can see her collapsing on the bed.
7. Those trees.
8. When Glinda the Good Witch of the North left Dorothy alone in Oz.
9. The Wicked Witch of the East under the house and how her legs and feet shrivel up when the ruby slippers leave her feet.
10. The Great Oz shouting (but only the first time, after I saw the movie once, that didn't scare me any more).

It was still my favourite film as a kid, even though it was a bit scary. Good question.

Most people would agree on the witch of the west and the flying monkeys. But it actually was the Wizard who freaked me out as a kid with that big head and the fiery pyrotechnics.

The Wicked Witch of the West. The first time I saw the movie I was 4 and I remember how scared she made me.

The monkeys. They still look real and fearsome even by today's movie standards. I love the monkeys. They were my favorite characters. What about the witch's guards? They were pretty scary.

Definitely the flying monkeys. Although, the guards scared me pretty bad, too.

Oh, without question it was the monkeys! The witch wasn't too nice either, but something about those monkeys setting off (and you knew where they were going) and Dorothy and her crew oblivious, and then snatched! Ack!
