The 1916 NY Giants won 26 consecutive games but it as actually 14 straight wins, then a tie, then 12 straight win.
The longest true winning streak was 21 games by the 1935 Chicago Cubs and the 1880 Chicago White Stockings, but the Giants streak is recognized as the longest.

(The 1916 N.Y. Giants went 26 games without a loss, but there was a tie in there so you can't say they won 26 consecutive.)
