My computer has been working fine until a power outage we had a couple of days ago. Im not home now and i have no access to internet at home. But before, i know when i hooked up my comcast to my computers ethernet port the port would turn greenish color. Now it does not and the computer does not even know its there. What can i do to fix this?

Your cable receiver is likely not picking up signal from the ethernet. Unplug it and allow it to "rest" for two full minutes before plugging back in the power. Then plug back in and then reboot your entire computer system, making sure your ethernet cable is connected to your cable modem receiver and computer. That should fix the problem for you.

First reboot the cable modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Then reboot the PC. If you have a router do the same thing. If all that is normal, and you are still not getting the light to come on, change the cable running from your PC to the cable modem. If that doesn't do anything then it sounds like your network card is dead.

It may be as simple as unplugging your modem, disconnecting your ethernet cable, wait 5 minutes, plug modem back in, and plug ethernet cable back in. Sounds like your setup got out of sync.

Good Luck,
