Democracy is the greatest form of government, but can only survive if the people put into office by the people are not unjust and corrupt, like most of them are today. But that's why democracy is only good in the beginning and with our constitution protecting our right to rebel and overthrow our government, that's why Bush hates the constitution and is also is why they are trying to make all weapons owned by the American people so the government has no opposition

a system of government where each person has equal representation within the government?
Very few countries have ever fallen under this category strictly speaking, so, what do we mean by "true democracy"?
believe capitalism has tainted this equality as in large countries the most likely way to get votes is to buy tv spots, radio spots, and these things cost money.
Therefore, because of the need for money to win an election, candidates must sacrifice personal morals in order to beat out the other guy. Corporations sponsor elections as a result (since they have the most money) and in essence influence who will win the election. Therefore, it becomes an impure democracy because corporations actually decide who wins an election or not, not the people. This means the top 10-20 percent of the population is deciding who will rule 100% of the people. Democracy means the people decide, and have access to all the correct information to decide. With capitalistic elections, that is simply not a possibility. As with the war we have seen that tainted democracy can result in devastatingly bad results... and almost worst because the president or candidates have the guise of democracy to hide under. "Well, you elected me so you have to agree with what I say!"

Democracy: An experiment in the concept that the individual is the most important element in the mix! That each individual, based upon his ambition, merit, effort, and zeal, can become whatever he wants! That each individual, or organization, can compete in a fair and equal market place, for their share of the market! That the worth of any individual, or group, is based upon their performance, not on who they are, who they know, who their daddy was, or any other outside factor. The concept that rights and privileges are granted by GOD, not man! The Ideal that no ONE, need bow or grovel before anyone else! The unique concept that we ALL have worth! The understanding that GOD set it in motion, and only MAN can screw it up!!!

A Democracy is a government ruled by the majority of the people.
However, the U.S. is a Republic ("and to the Republic, for which it stands").A government having a Chief of State, a President. A government in which the supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officials and representatives, governing according to law.

Two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.

A Democracy is a terrible form of government, it is better termed "Mobocracy". The mob rules.

Thank God our founding fathers established a Representative Republic under a rule of law.

Too bad we don't have it any longer. We are now the proud owners of Corporate Statism.

Physically impossible to accomplish today

It originated throughout ancient Greece and Rome in which societies were small enough that they were not dealing with billions of dollars deciding where to put it. Hence they could vote on every decision, however the closest thing we can get to voting on everything as one, would be to have people do the monotonous task for us!

The concept is that ordinary people think that they are the masters in electing their servants but even after repeatedly getting fooled and treated shabbily by the elected masters, still think that way and get ready for the next one to choose the same or similar persons as servants.(Masters?)
