You have a fuel problem. your line is disrupted or your fuel filter needs replacing. is the car fuel injected. They might need cleaning also. If you can take it to a jiffy lube and they can try to find the exact problem. or you can stop by a gas station and get some fuel treatment products, Good Luck.

The most usual cause and the very easiest thing to check on this motor is to remove the spark plug wires and inspect the connection point inside the wire and the insulation around the spark plug wire's boot. A common problem for these are corroded connections inside the wire which show up as a black soot or a rusty connector. If this is the case, you should replace all four plugs and the wires to them. These were so bad that there used to be a recall on some of them. Good luck.l

If it has high miles, you may need to replace the sparkplugs. I'll bet your problem is the fuel system though. You can take the car to most quick service places, and they'll run a cleaner through the injectors which are more than likely clogging up, and it'll clear it up. It is also highly advisable to replace the fuel filter, and check the air filter at the time.

Lets try the easy/simple $h!t first, ok.
Try openin your hood @ night in a dark location and see if you see a light show(sparks flying(cross-firing) from bad plug wires) going on under the hood. If, you don't see any cross-firing on the plug wires.(Also, consider how old the spark plugs are.) Then, you can jump into the more serious stuff like the leaking/blown head gasket and the injectors and fuel filter.
Good luck!

listen to the people and do the normal maintance tuneup and etc. Then pop the hood and looking down at the engine ,look at the rt side and see if u see any antifreeze leaking between the head and block. those engines blow head gaskets all the time. gm has a hidden recall on them up till 180,000 miles .Sorry ,i forgot where i found it but i did and got mine fixed and then got rid of the car.

Replace spark plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and check for vacuum hose leak at the fuel pressure regulator.Could be spark tracking to ground at the plugs.I recomend dielectric grease applied to plug insulators to elliminate arcing.

Most likely leaking/blown head gasket. Less likely but possible - fuel injectors, and finally, low fuel pressure - tired pump or bad regulator.
