Sorry, this is supposed to be in the Pets-Cats catagory, that is what was marked when I submitted it.

Dunno... make some loud noise and see if the kitten notices? I'm sure your vet would be able to tell you.

Well, loud noises while sleeping can be a good indicator. Sneak up behind the sleeping kitten and smack cookware together - or use an airhorn or something.

It may seem cruel, but if the kitten is deaf, it will not stir. If it isn't deaf, it would most likely be startled by the noise and jump up and scurry off.

Cats are really sensitive to sudden loud noises, whether in front of them or out of view. If your kitten is totally deaf then making a loud noise will not affect it in any way. If it is slightly deaf, that's harder to determine. Try shaking a small jingle bell toy and see if it turns it's head to look at the source of the noise.

I have a deaf cat - she is all white (white cats are more likely to be deaf than another color cat)

I confirmed she was deaf while she was sleeping... it was hard trying to make noise next to her, because she was pretty good at sensing vibrations in the floor as I approached. So I took the TV remote, and turned it up ALLL the way as she was sleeping just feet from it. She didn't even twitch.

Then, I barely touched her, and she jumped out of her skin...

It was COMPLETELY confirmed when she fell asleep underneath a table saw, as my dad was using it... she liked the vibrations, and slept soundly as my dad used ear plugs :)

Don't worry if your kitty is deaf - he/she can still be a normal cat, as long as you don't make it a habit of startling it often. Good luck!

Have her assesed via a vet for a suitable prognosis. We had a confimed deaf cat yet i ought to swear in specific cases he heard me. He did no longer what he could "pay attention" replaced into vibrations made via despite moise he could no longer pay attention. that is in all hazard your cat is merely ignoring you. they're good at that.
