Well, poor little "Scooter" is the scapegoat, taking the rap for Dick Cheney, because, naturally, the Vice President will never be prosecuted for leaking Valerie Plame's name, plus obstruction of justice, so someone is going to have pay the price with jail time for perjury, etc. I'll be surprised if George Bush doesn't pardon Libby.

The answer to this is right in your question: they are Libby supporters. When someone you support gets sentenced to jail for something, you'll probably want no jail time for them, too.

Clinton didn't go to jail for exactly the same crime. he was later fined $900k by a federal judge for lying to her under oath. which is what libby was convicted of. I wonder who paid the fine?

Rather than locking up "Scooter" Libbey, we should be tossing Sandy Berger into the clink, for his theft and destruction of highly classified documents!
