I want a basic laptop for word processing and internet shopping and email. No frills, but I don't want a slow machine. I'm tired of my pc freezing, giving me warnings, viruses, etc.
Convince me to go to MAC!?

Macs tend to be more expensive thats the downside. There's like one real Apple store in the whole state that I live in. What kind of speed do you need for word processing and shopping? Yep I can type 1000 WPM and visit 20 websites at a time np:) PCs have problems which are more software related. Give your computer a makeover and try a Linux OS before investing in another computer.

Why should you? If you want it for basic things like that you can get a cheap dell for 500 Where as Macs start out at double that.

If you're worried about viruses. Get anti virus. I've had a Windows based machine for 9 years now and have never gotten a virus.

mac is best for designers, but if you want to reduce viruses, they are good for that as they hardly ever get them. if you keep it simple, and don't load up a bunch of stuff onto it (same as a PC) it should treat you fine. remember you'll have to get used to a diff word processor (no biggie tho).

Hello collegegradthree,

Just ignore the Widows Nazis. Go to your local Macintosh dealer and play around with a Macintosh yourself. If you have any questions, have the sales rep tell you. You'll love it.

No dont get a Mac. They are so much harder to use, I have had only bad experiences with them. Get a Dell!

You shouldn't. Get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092 instead.
