Probably a sideline for the elderly guy in the huge boat with the "old guy 50's hat" who drives super slow and views the road through the gap in between the steering wheel and the dashboard.

depends: Kid shoes are the responsibility of toddlers who throw them out of car windows. Adult shoes are the responsibility of absent-minded, very busy people who put their shoes on top of their cars while they load other items, then take off and hear a thud 1 mile in (huh, what was that?) and another thud 3 miles in (oh no, my shoes!!!).
