Who thinks the United States would have a hard time crushing Iran?

I know that they are a backwater country , with little if anything of value , besides maybe some oil , would conquering there country be worth it?

First of all, we could literally obliterate it in a couple minutes, with nothing more than the nuclear tipped warheads from some missiles launched from a Trident submarine hundreds of miles away.

Iran is not a backwater country. They have a long history of honoring academic excellence. They have fine mathematicians, doctors, scientists, and are actually very good film makers. They are a far more advanced country than Iraq.

Iran also has some remarkably scenic areas. It is not just some huge desert. Many parts of the country are green and lush.

Once young Iranians get bored with the restrictions imposed by Islam, and start realizing the Mullahs they are supposed to obey are nothing but intolerant, backwards, bearded relics, they will embrace Western thought, and eventually become one of the most successful democracies on earth.

I have faith in Iran.

The current situation of the US being tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan severely limits the US military's ability to fight a full scale war in Iran. Not to mention our politicians are incompetent and have poor decision making skills and being open to bribery (aka help out those who gives the most in lobbying and campaign contributions.) that WILL get this nation killed.


The other reason is the US military is not capable to handle guerrillas. This is something that has been shown time and time again through out history. If Iran gets invaded, expect such warfare to take full place against US troops. Plus when it comes to warfare, our enemies will not pull any punches (nukes, chemical, whatever they can use.) while we will until it is too late.

The USA won't win any war unless they had the total commitment from their general population. With the current state of affairs the way they are, that's highly unlikely The best way to defeat these countries is to lessen our dependency upon their oil, stop buying it. No more $$ for them, and watch them pucker up real quick. Also, they will have to ask themselves whether it's worth it, continuing the funding of terrorism.
