Just as tomorrow never comes (it is always a day away), then yesterday cannot ever be in the present.
If this is so, then yesterday has not gone since it was never here.
Only today exists.

if yesterday did not arrive then today could never have arrived equally if yesterday did not end then today would not have arrived - this is why the kalam argument for the existence of God (a popularised version of islamic theology) as it rejects the possiablity of infinite regress and points toward and uncaused cause (those famililar with the theology of Aristotle and Aquinas will recognise the concepts contained within the cosmological argument for the existence of God as if there was infinite rgress then today would never have arrived. Equally the principle of infinity does not work in this contingent world (everything in the world has come into existence and therfore will cease to exist also due the fact that they have been caused to exist) due to the fact that if i have and infinte number of book on shelf ordered in alphabetical order and i had to pass past every section of of the books to reach the bokks begining with c i would never reach them.

Yesterday's come and gone because the things we did at specific times yesterday can never be repeated. They were at a certain place and time that would never be again even if we do the same things today, at the same place and same time. The times would still be different because then the time is today!

Because we are three dimensional beings only vaguely aware of the true nature of time, the fourth dimension.
Einstein proved that as you approach the speed of light time slows down. Time flows faster or slower depending on your perspective.
Now for the freaky part. This is how I visualize time. It flows like a river. Some places it flows faster, some places slower. There can be eddy currents, whirlpools and obstructions that affect its flow. Some day we may be able to control time like we control water, moving it to where we want it and even sending it back where it came from.
Some people believe that time paradox problems (like killing your grandpa) are solved due to the nature of the multi-verse. He dies in one reality and lives in another enabling you to travel backwards and kill him. Again and again and again until you either get bored or caught by the police.

Yesterday came because the day before had gone. Yesterday has gone because today is here. When tomorrow comes it will be today again.

Life is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. The biblical reference is correct, for who has not a plan for tomorrow and a memory for yesterday? Who of these can change time to relive again yesterday's honor or jump ahead to tomorrow's surprise?

Yesterday came for the same reason as today. It came to replace the day before it and make new beginnings. It left so that we can think about the future and forget about it. Yesterday doesn't want to be remembered. Yesterday wants us to move on, just as it does.

Yesterday has come because of tomorrow. Once yesterday has come it does not necessarily leave. I have very fond memories of a lot of yesterdays that make me happy today and give me hope for tomorrow.

Because time goes on and it's something that never changes, goes backwards, or stops at any moment. Time goes on and always forwards. This is why people say "live life today like there's no tomorrow", and "dont put off for tomorrow, what you can do today" because time doesnt wait for you, you have to keep up with it.

Yesterday, like today and tomorrow, keep passing away. This happens moment by moment by moment--usually unnoticed. Eventually, all our todays have become yesterdays and we are left at the edge of Eternity.
