If people today are smarter then people in the past, then people in the past must have been quite stupid, since people today are absolute MORONS. But in all seriousness, yes. Back in the old days, education was only available to the rich (who were a small percentage of the population), and many poor people who could have had potential, never got the chance to do anything. I know education doesn't always = intelligence, but you know what I'm saying. A long time ago, only very few got the chance to be smart. Most were just preoccupied with fending for themselves & their families (farming, etc.) these are the really old days, not the early 20th century

I'd have to say Stephen Hawking in all seriousness though because he has to have some sort of form of autism to be that smart and be crippled.........its sad.
