I respect my President. I expect people to do the same. I speak up when the don't (I did when they attacked President Clinton, but didn't fault them when they proved a point or two IN COURT).

I haven't noticed it myself, but that's partly because I live in Canada (our equivalents are the conservatives and the NDP). If it is in fact true, then perhaps it's because the democrats just have a better idea of what's going on than the republicans and realize just how bad some things are, while the republicans just have to put their faith in Jesus Bush- whoops, I meant George W. Christ- and suddenly it looks to them like all their problems are solved. Sort of like 1984.

They are miserable because they don't believe that people are capable of taking care of themselves and bettering their own situation, they need the government to take care of them. If they're not in the position they want to be - it's because they're being screwed over.
Republicans however believe that all people are capable of achieving and ultimately responsible for their own wellbeing and happiness. They understand that the largest factor in where they are and where they'll end up in life is their own willingness to work towards their goals.
