I had a silly answer, but I'm going to refrain.

The diaphragm holds more air and a purer sound comes out. Sing through your nose, if you wish, but you won't produce a particularly lovely sound.

you shouldn't be singing through your nose, that creates a nasal sound. Breathing through your diaphragm while sining out your mouth is good because it helps keep your voice sounding strong and not breathy.
