After birth you shouldn't have
sex for at least 18 years.

The doctor will typically recommend around 6 weeks, but to be honest, your life is turned upside down (for a very good reason, though!) once a baby is born, and sex will be the last thing on your mind! It doesn't hurt--if you're concerned, just use KY-Jelly. Also, I bled for about 3-4 weeks. It tapers off toward the end, so just buy a lot of pads and clean the area each time you use the bathroom.

You'll be fine--good luck! :-)

Dr.s say 6 weeks, but alot of it depends on you - did you have an episiotomy? Did you tear? If not, I'd say wait a few weeks and then see if you are tender - if sex hurts in anyway, give it more time... if not, then I guess you're ready -

I bled for about 3 1/2 weeks, though the last week was just spotting here and there...

I bled for about 2 or 3 weeks, and then had intercourse at 6 weeks. It didn't hurt exactly but it was a little uncomfortable at first.

I bled for a couple weeks, but waited to have sex until 6 weeks. Honestly, I did it then just for my hubby... I had stitches, and was totally psyched out about the pain which made it worse. It was not that bad though, use a ton of lube and go slow! I think it was a good thing I did it then because otherwise I probably would have been afraid of it forever!

There are plenty of people who have had sex before their postpartum check, but just becareful if you had stitches or anything else like that.

The doctor usually says six weeks until you can have sex again, after your check up. Personally, I was not ready at all. Some women are ready earlier, though. I think it depends alot on whether or not you had a vaginal delivery or c-section, if you had an episiotomy or tear, etc. I bled for six weeks after giving birth.

Your Dr normally tells you 6 weeks to make sure your boby is healed. Your body just went though birth therefore it would be like sticking his snake in a coffee can if you don't wait. not much fun for him and certainly not much fun for you. So your muscals still have to heal. Typically there is a small about of discomfort the first time but not OMG pain as you might think. If you have questions or concerns call your DR. That is why they are your DR. :) Good luck! I remember after my second son the DR telling me no sex for 6 weeks. I said who in the hell in their right mind would want to have sex right after a baby anyway. This is a good time for bonding. :)

6 weeks, But I know it was a few months after. I wasn't very much in the "mood" for a while. I know it didn't hurt and it didn't feel different. Just take it slow and don't rush into having sex if you are not ready. I really don't remember how long I had my "period" My cramps are now not nearly as bad as they were before!!

I started having sex 3 weeks after I had my daughter. They say to wait until you feel comfortable and most people end up waiting until the six week post partum check up. I bled the heavy stuff for probably about two weeks and about a week after that I was completely done but it varies from person to person.
