Americans speak much about freedom, but they have so little of it. To the average American, freedom means "Follow the rules, obey all the laws, pay your taxes, fill out all the required forms, stay in line, keep your head down, don't get 'an attitude,' and you won't get hurt... maybe."

You want to know what real freedom is? Real freedom is what a man has when he is allowed to kill government officials who are corrupt, or policemen who don't respect the constitutional rights of citizens.

In a free country, "citizen" is an office of very high rank. People like presidents, senators, and governors are your servants. In our country, on the other hand, the only rank lower than citizen is "prisoner." That should give you an idea of how twisted politics have become in the United States.

Here's how one of America's greatest Founders said it...

"The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed and that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of press.

"Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The law of self-preservation is higher than the written law. No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

"A little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing. Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

That's a gathered quote from Thomas Jefferson's writing. That's what freedom really means. It's much more than the right to be left alone as long as you obey all the rules. Much more!

Freedom. Something that is much shouted about and never truly granted.
Something that the Labour drones in Scotland made sure we didn't really get in May.
Something Scotland hasn't had a sniff of for three hundred years, since greedy b@stards signed away our nation for trade and gold.

And for the lass back up the board, it's your turn to feel like you're being ruled from somewhere else, then.
Scotland has had to put up with rule by Englishmen for centuries.
Now you know what it feels like. Not nice, is it?

Freedom to me is being able to do whatever I like as long as it does not interfere with, or detract from, the ability of others to do the same.
I am not a great fan of civil libertarians, especially lawyers, because what they advocate usually involves the loss of freedom to law abiding people in favour of those who have little or no regard for others. Can't help feeling their involvement isn't more to do with enhancing their chances of making money rather than liberty.
Regards.

It means NOT being called Un-American or unpatriotic because because you disagree with Bush or blair. It means being able to be proud of your heratige and religion without having to worry that the country you grew up in is now turning hostile towards you becuase of the political climate which is being stirred up by government propaganda and so on.

By the way NO I am Not a Muslim but if I were a muslim in Britain or America I would not be feeling too free right now

It means going about my daily business with out being watched by cameras on every corner. It means being able to interact with business without the "papers please". It means being able to enjoy the fruits of my labor without having to turn 1/2 of it over to the government or face death like the Browns in Nh. are. It means being able to do pretty much as I please as long as it harms no one else! This is called liberty and is guaranteed in our constitution and bill of rights which the government largely ignores! I want our freedoms back so we all can be healthy, happy prosperous and SAFE.
The only way this can happen without bloodshed is for all of us to back truly honorable people like Dr. Ron Paul for all positions in our government.
