No, you don't need one. Any wireless router should work. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router. :)

no the wii has wireless capabilities built in but check if the router is compatible with the wii. my Netgear DG834G works fine for it and my ds-lites

The Wii has it's own WiFi card, so it can connect to your WiFi router with little to no problems.
If there are issues, you'll need to go to http://www.nintendowifi.com & click on Tech Support to assist you.
