my mom gave away the old one that was working fine and easy to use and bought a new expensive one with the fancy buttons and what not on it and its small too. and something is wrong with it. doesn't drain all the water, stops randomly when not supposed to.
the old one is easy to use, works, and is bigger than the new 1 she bought.

I fell into that trap. I bought a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer set. It was supposed to be the best washer and dryer ever. All digital with all sorts of fancy settings, buttons, etc.
Worst product EVER. After 5 minutes it sounded like chainsaws were fighting inside the washer and I couldn't drain the water after stopping the wash cycle. The dryer didn't even heat up. I did research afterwards (should have done it beforehand) and found out the digital washing machines and dryers break down repeatedly...the more buttons they have = the more things that can break. And if it's digital that means the motherboard can fry...why oh why put a motherboard on a product that uses water.
I bought a Whirlpool "old-school" washer/dryer set that costs hundreds of dollars less and haven't had a single problem in 3 years. Maytag shmaytag.
Your mom probably wanted a new washer/dryer set for the same reason your dad probably wants a new set of power tools that do all kinds of 'new' things the old set didn't do (even if it still works).

Me personally, I plan too when I get my taxes back next year. And get a new washer/dryer set. And the one I have now works just fine, I just want an upgrade. There is nothing wrong with spending your money when all your responsibilities are taken care of--if they are and your not putting yourself out what is the problem. I hate that her new one is not working right, she needs to trade it in for a new one with no problems--if she just got it--don't let them offer repair. Or if she has had it for a while and it is still under warranty have them fix it. There is no sense to pay good money for something that is damaged.

I had to because my old washer and dryer set were electric and my new house was gas. So, I bought a new set so they would match. It is much cheaper energy wise to have a gas dryer than the electric, but I really miss my old set. Somehow, it seemed to have more settings and cleaned the clothes better.

Call a plumber and check it out
The $50 an hour may be cheaper then the cost to buy new

yeah she probably just wanted a new toy. The only reason to get a new one would be to save more space, or get one that has more features and stuff.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless you are your own government, then you can keep fixing it till it is broke.
