Though I've never owned one I did have the misfortune to have worked on many Cheverolet Vegas. This was supposed to be GM's answer to the tidal wave of asian imports coming to America in the seventies. See, in the seventies, Americans discovered that Datsuns/Nissans, Toyotas and Hondas were well built, fast, looked great and were very dependable -- all the things domestic vehicles were NOT. So here comes Chey Vega and Ford Pinto (another piece of dogsh*t but also another story). The Vegas sold like mad for a few years, despite being pig-ugly, slow and about as well designed as an orange crate. Then the problems started to rise like a flood, mainly blown engines. Thousands and thousands of them were pulled into the Chevrolet dealers with seized engines resulting from a small collant leak in the cylinder head. (didn't GM even bother testing the damn things before they sold them??). Next came the rust -- rust like you have never seen. Brand new vehicles were literally rusting on showroom floors across America. Even if a Vega managed to survive the DOA engine and rust leprosy the door hinges were prone to break-off, the cheap plastic interior trim rotted and fell off, seats collapsed, transmissions failed, clutch cables snapped at the cowl, etc, etc. GM finally threw in the towell towards the end of the production run and replaced the garbage OHC engine with a thirty year old design pushrod design -- all to no avail. Now all customers had was a running engine amid a pile of rusted metal. This was, without exception, the low point of domestic automobile design and construction.

The front wheel drive X-body cars (Chevrolet Citation, Pontiac Phoenix, Oldsmobile Omega and Buick Skylark) are in my opinion the worst cars ever built, just about how many of them do you see nowadays? Hardly any, you used to see alot of them around 20 years ago, I thought the rear wheel drive X-body cars were alot better as far as reliability and the body styling guys.

A 1994 Mitzubishi Expo! NEVER again! Three transmissions in 9 months!!! Couldn't hold one. And this was in 2000! This vehicle is a cross between a wagon and SUV. A nice looking vehicle but mechanical garbage! This site has it a good car, but mine was junk.

The Edsel and the Yugo should be right at the top. ~
Guy walks into an auto parts store and says, I'd like to get a steering wheel for my Yugo.
Salesman: Sounds like a fair trade to me!
