"I have to write a poem and I don't know what to say.
The more I think about it there really is no way
That I can find a subject before tomorrow morn.
I'm really feeling sleepy, I've got to have a yawn.
I know, I'll have some coffee that should do the trick,
Oh, no, last time I had some, it really made me sick.
Come on brain, get working, I've got to get this done
But as I read this writing, oh look, I've written one."
OK. it's spur of the moment & very random (& past midnight where I live) but I hope it helps. Good night and God bless ur efforts.

Teachers love it when you take one experience, it doesn't have to be personal or anything, and write about it like it's a picture in stead of a memory, if that makes sense. Let's say you want to write about the day you first saw your baby brother, you just put the memory into one moment and write what you saw smelled etc. Also, don't worry about rhyming too much, we had the same project and all the kids who did free verse got As for the most part.

Ideas are everywhere.
I see the fly
Upon my windowsill
Bonking its head
Against the panes
Trying to get out
But not understanding
Glass
The hard air will
Thwart the efforts to
Leave and fly free
To do things that all fly
Feel that the SPLAT!
He was annoying me with that buzzing

Use your emotions. Write about anything you feel: anger, love, hatred, sadness, loneliness. It is always easy for me to write about my feelings and its also therapeutic.

Try this: Don't pick a subject, just start writing, name it afterward.

Admittedly, not a Haiku expert, but maybe you could call this "The Pensive Garden"...
