Because when you marry you committ to that person. Sheesh, I bet you were listening to the ball game during your wedding.

Your partner should step out on your loser butt!

Cheating is defined as an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others[1]. Cheating implies the breaking of rules. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating )

Cheating happens before and after marriage. It is called cheating becasue you are lying and taking advantage of your girlfriend/ or wife (or vice versa..women cheat too). If you want to make sure you dont cheat then you should be open with the other partner and tell them you want a "open" realtionship which will allow you to sleep around. It is up to the partner to decide if he/she wants to stay with you.

Vows are not unrealistic, you are an idiot for thinking that. There is nothing different between love before or after marriage, its all in peoples brain. Those people that think like you, will probably make the partners life miserable and at the end will get a divorce.

DO society one favor...DONT GET MARRIED or have a relationship...

When you get married you are issued a marriage certificate or license you sign this so basically your committed to one person. Some states when you cheat your actually breaking the law and you could go to jail. We don't need to mention the financial ruin that will also head your way when your spouse files for divorce. Having sex with anyone other then your spouse constitutes adultery. But the marriage goes beyond just the vows its also about honesty morals and the love you have for each other. When you cheat you also have to lie and then it's all downhill after that.

Good question.

I would say its considered cheating because society has interpreted the traditional line "and forsake all others" to mean not have sex with anyone else. So I guess the wedding ceremony is fancy way to set the rules of the marriage and if you break the rules you are cheating. Very interesting question. Thank you for making me think about the language we use in a different light.

Because you promised to take care of that person and be faithful and true to them until death do you part. Also because sleeping around is dangerous, STD's and so on and so forth. Not to mention what if you knock up some bimbo. I will define cheating for you, having a relationship that is anything but professional with anyone besides your spouse. How about that. You should try to get a tighter grip on reality, we are not a bunch of hippies and life is not always a game.

If "so called VOWS" in front of family, friends, God,don't mean anything to you, don't make them. It's that simple. A vow is a promise.
Almost always, cheating involves lying, sneaking around and disrespect. If having sex with other women is more important than being honest with your wife, you probably shouldn't be married. It would likely cause a lot of pain.

if you dont understand the concept of marriage then perhaps it is not for you. after you are married you are giving up the life of sleeping around because you have found the one person you were looking the whole time.
if you think vows are unrealistic you are more than likely a selfish and childish commitment phobe. you are the type of person that can never be satisfied with one person. thats sad, it really is.
sounds like you have a ****** up view of relationships because your parents didnt raise you right.

because there is a term strictly defining acts of sexual indulgence with a person other than the one you're committed towhile in a committed relationship. this in the english language is now called cheating or adultery.

the act would not be considered immoral if both parties in a relationship agree on a so called "open" relationship. however unless this is clearly agreed upon, it is the single most dispicable act imaginable.

it so happens that in the western society a relationship implies that youare physically and emotionally to stay committed. and failing to do so would imply lying, disrespecting and ultimately cheating.

to put it simple, you got some twisted take on relationships there. i do not and never will share our point of view and i doubt many people will.

Cheating is just a word. It means too many different things to too many people. The real issue is the relationship and what is important to you. But telling lies is always telling lies. It means the same in any language. Get the picture.

When you give your vows it's almost like a solid promise that you're willing to settle down, sacrifice, build a future with her, grow old with her & be loyal to her. If you're dogging her out, get a divorce and NEVER EVER get married if you want to sleep around.
