I think he knew and if Jose would have never brought it out to the publishers it would still be overlooked.

The government only got involved because of the book.

Selig should resign and give someone with backbone the job.

Personally, I don't think Bud Selig is worth $18, so how is he making millions despite his horrible job as a a commish is beyond me. Having said that, Scott Van Pelt's suspension is an ESPN decision that I believe is based on politics and PR with MLB, and not any influence by Selig. After all, Van Pelt was out of line and a little unprofessional. He is right and justified in criticising the job and salary of Selig, but does not have the right to use ESPN to hurl personal insults at Selig (called him pimp, etc...). He is a smart person and should have known better. It looks bad on him now that he had to personally call Selig and apologize.

Look, Seligula was a used-car salesman. One of the core skills needed to succeed at that job is knowing what to know and what NOT to know about any given car -- maintaining ignorance is important because it means you are unable to lie to potential customers about certain things, like if a given car was ever in a wreck or had the bearings replaced. NOT knowing these things makes the job easier, makes compliance with the law easier.

And that's the sort of skill a league commissioner could use on some occasions. Not saying this is how it should be, merely how it is.

what's your point? of course he knew..of course the fans knew..of course the players knew..but yeah and? i don't care. i want to see them hit bombs and steal bases. no era in baseball has ever been perfect..hell maris broke the record with almost 10 more games than ruth...so are you crying about that? then at the time the commish of baseball was a CARD CARRYING MEMBER OF THE KKK..JUST LIKE TY COBB AND CY YOUNG

but are you crying about that?

I mean really...what people should be crying about is why ESPN..keeps bringing all this of up TELLING YOU THAT YOU SHOULD CARE.

after all it wasn't the botson globe or new york times or even the sf chronicle that had reporters following bonbs every move
IT WAS ESPN.

and by the way ..george mitchell once ran disney which owns espn.

where's your

hmmmmmmmmmm...

on that one?
