Be sure to check out http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erc. You're not alone...there are nearly 89 million other women and girls around the world with this disease.

Also see http://www.centerforendo.com for the latest info on the best treatment option; removing Endo and not organs is the key. Hysterectomy is not a cure for Endometriosis and anyone telling you otherwise is not informed.

There is also plenty of information provided at http://www.endocenter.org, a free foundation for support, education and research.

Good luck to you and remember you are not alone.

I was diagnosised with Endo 5 years ago at the age of 24, though I suffered with it for 7 years before they took me serious. After a failed laporoscopy I had to have a Laporotomy to remove the scar tissue, cysts, and untangle my insides the best that they could. After surgery I was placed on Lupron and Hormone therapy for three years. I was taken off, because I developed osteopenia. I am currently on continious birth control (no placebo) to keep my periods away. All of this is to keep me able to have children, which I still plan on doing and my doctor believes is very possible. I have had many people tell me that getting pregnant will cure me, but if chemical menopause didn't do the trick I don't think pregnancy will. So I am not going to rush having children just to chance curing this problem.
I hope that my sharing my experience relieves a little of your fears. I know when I first learned that I had endo I experienced relief and fear. Relief, because I finally knew I was not crazy and something was really wrongall that time. And fear of the unknown. I suggest reading up on it to get rid of some of the fear.

I had it for twenty five years before the Hysterectomy was necessary by the time I was 37.. I did have 6 or 7 surgeries of various types trying to correct the problem. 3 D & C's, right oopharectomy and a uterine suspension plus cauterizations. No luck.

I was able to get pregnant once at twenty nine and that was all. Mine started in my early teens and was advanced before twenty years old.

Infertility is the result as it advances, so get busy if you want another child. My second child is adopted.

It is a painful difficult part of life. Do the products like ibuprofen help at all? Have you done research so you thoroughly understand it? That will help so much. My periods were extremely heavy from 13 to my mid 30's then they tapered off as I began to bleed into the abdominal cavitity. Then the scar tissue will grow similar to a spider web, but much stronger. You will have a tugging and painful pulling as it gets worse. If you select the hysterectomy to solve it at a later age, you must be on Hormone therapy (pills ) from then on. I have been on it for 29 years, with out them, for me I became horribly depressed and paranoid. But with the Premarin 1.25 I am fine and dandy.

Take care and God Bless.

Good Luck I do so sympathize.
