We purchased a 44 yr old house last fall. Our old house was 40 yrs old. This is a 2 story. Some nights I can hear medium sized person foot steps coming up to the stairs. They stop in front of my bedroom door as if to look inside the room. I will get up. No one there. Our dog will be either downstairs or she will literally RUN into my room and lie down quickly. No one else is up. Weird. Does anyone believe in ghosts? Spirits in the house?? This has happened just a few times. Also, "knocking around" type noises downstairs a couple of times. I check...no one there.

Also, the couple before lived here for about 5 yrs. They had a baby and moved west. The other, longer inhabitants (20 yrs or so) were church people..."Brother so-in-so"...and his wife. They get recent mail here still..strange..even though I can't find them on the web anywhere.

If it scares you...then it is not from God and it is evil. There is not a middle ground or grey area. Spirits are either good or evil..period. You could probably find a pastor around there that will come to your house and pray over it, and annoint your doorways with oil or whatever he feels compelled to do. Whatever is in your house, God can deliver you from it. You do whatever you want, but trust me, you will be surprised.

A Ghost is a Spirit
And everyone has a Spirit
So if you don't believe in Ghost
You don't believe in Spirit
Then you don't believe in Yourself

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.

A Ghost is a Spirit which is a Soul the Etheric body that we use to Astral Travel so when we pass over that is what leaves the body.

It is understood as a sort of life force body or aura that constitutes the "blueprint" of the physical body, and which sustains the physical body.

Some people don't pass over because of unfinished business
Or they just don't know they have died
Or they didn't know to go to the light
This is what people call a Ghost
I call Spirit some call Lost Souls

If you think you have some Lost Souls living in your house
Ask Archangel Michael to come and take them to the light

Love & Blessings

When my mom and dad first purchased their house the ghost of my grandmother would stand at the top and bottom of the stairs at night. One night my mom saw the ghost from the top of the stairs and my dad saw it from the bottom. After a couple of months though she went away. If you can get a glimse of the spirit try to see if it's a dead relative or something. And yes I believe in ghosts.

Well...I don't believe in ghosts, but I do believe in ghosts. That probably makes no since. I mean, some of the stories are just so crazy and too common to believe.

I think your house MIGHT be haunted. I have a friend with an old house too and her story is some-what similar. Keep investigating! (Or you could call Ghost Hunters or Most Haunted! Become famous!lol.)

According to the Vedas, ghosts are people who died before their destined or scheduled time unnaturally.
A person who commits suicide.
A person who is murdered.
A person who dies on drugs or alchohal etc.
These are some of the types of people that must continue their lives as disembodied beings. Eventually though, a ghost will also leave it's subtle body, ( "die again").
There are many different types of ghost. If a priest or brahman become wicked and dies, he can become a very powerful ghost, called a brahma rakshasa, who actually attacks people. Those types of ghosts are mostly in India and seen by a few of my friends actually. Nobody in India likes that type.
There is another type like a goblin, who remains thin and hungry and cries and moans. These want relief and sometimes saintly people help them and release them by giving them food that was first offered to God, (they don't actually eat it).
Anyways there are so many different kinds and in India we have so many priests who know rituals of getting rid of ghosts. But some are so powerful and don't go. (That takes an actual saintly person who is directly connected to God, to get relief.)
Ghosts like old houses, old hallow trees and similar places to stay for they have no physical body. Sometimes if people die in their own house, they must live there a little longer.
It's good to be informed about the history of a house. One building had a history of being a slaughter house, an orphanage, and a place of murder and had to be burnt down.
Sounds like what you have are just ordinary ghosts. The more you pay attention to them, the more powerful and upfront they become. Maybe you should play loud music.
I just chant when a ghost bothers me in a dream. That USUALLY works. (If it doesn't I pray to my Spiritual Master.) (but if you are Christian, maybe praying to Jesus would help). I have had dangerous and intelligent ghosts from India attack me a couple of times in my life.
If you have a fever, are weak minded, or you are intoxicated, that is when you are vulnerable to ghosts.
yes, I believe in them but don't dwell on them. (I haven't seen one yet, exept in dreams)

Spirits are absolutely real. When A person can't let go of their life for one reason or another they remain behind. A spirit can link itself to a place or person. I've seen and heard more than one in more than place I've lived. These include, but are not limited to: Running water, footsteps when no one is up or near, the sound of laughter, lights blinking on and off, the smell and sound of cooking/frying and no one is in the kitchen, Smell of tobacco smoke when no one's home but me( and I don't smoke), the actually sightings of spirits and having someone touch my shoulder and lift my sister's hair while I watched. Yes you do have a spirit with you. They could have resided in the home or they could have chosen you to be close to and protect. But more then likely they are connected to the house. They carry on as if you are the one interupting them. They will not hurt you. You can make them go if you wish to but if they are not harming you why push them out. I have so many many experiences with spirits. There is another dimension that we cannot see but it is there for sure. do not be afraid.

of course this is a ghost! Well you do't nessicarily have to call it a ghost, maybe more like a spirit, omg! That is so weird, and cool, yet really scary.
Maybe it is like a spirit watching over you the way it stops t your bed room and stuff, thats kinda creepy though, you should try to ask the ppl. who used to live there if they ever experienced that.
