It rather depends on where you are planning to go and what you want from a holiday. If you love classical sites and history, you are in for a treat, and should go to Athens, Delphi (one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and I am fairly well travelled), Mycenae, Olympia, Epidauros and Corinth. If you want an island that gives a taste of everything on offer go to Crete where you get sites - Knossos, Phaestos, Mallia etc, pleasant towns - Chania and Rethymnon, beaches and night life, mountains and walks (Samaria gorge) and some of the best food you will find in Greece. If you want the island life there are plenty to chose from, which will offer manic night life, or quiet family times, depending on which you chose.
I love Greece, but make sure you chose a place that suits what you want from a holiday - there is no point going to a quiet island if you want to rave each night, or to go to a small island if you want to do the full cultural bit. Whatever you want, though, Greece can offer - and it also has the most amazing light quality.

Yes, go first to the Saronic Gulf and visit Egina, Angistri & Moni. from Egina you can also visit Poros and Idhra, all only an hour or so apart by boat from Egina town port .

Egina is also only a half hour hydrofoil ride from Pireas, the port for Athens, so you can also visit Athens.

But that is just a start, there are over seventy islands to go at, all welcoming. Go now.

A holiday in Greece? Lube me up. I have always wanted a holiday in vegetable oil. Is it far from here?

Yes, but be careful. There is a large anti-American sentiment in Greece.

I cant recommend it personally. The last time i went i turned the colour of rubarb.I got blisters the size of golfballs on my feet. The plumming was about as useful as having a bed on a ceiling, the locals were ruder than a Jodie Marsh photoshoot, the beer was more watery than volvic, and i was mugged. So overall it could have been better
