I have a friend just like that. Although its helpful sometimes, other times it can be a real drag. What you have to do is just let go. Don't care so much. I know that seems harsh and hard to do, but you need to feel as if your friends can handle it themselves. I don't know you, so I don't want to make any personal judgements or anything, but my friend who acts like my mother is wound very tight. If that's you, then let go alittle. Add your advice only when asked, and if you disapprove of something they are doing don't lecture them, just tell them you think its wrong, and forget about it. You care about your friends and family so much, that you want to protect them. That's a really honourable quality, and don't try to dissolve it completely. Just stop caring alittle bit. You may also find, that by changing yourself your friends might miss the old you. Even if they complain now, you don't know what you have till its gone. I would really suggest living with it, everyone is irritating in some way. Maybe you are too parental, while others are too childlish. The world is a balance, and you just balance people like me who can't control themselves. I'm sure your a great friend :).

Stop giving advice or whatever you are doing that is making you like a parent. You're 20 so acting like a parent means you are mature and can probably take care of children and yourself. Have some fun and be carefree. Friends need someone to guide them to the right path so maybe your advice giving isn't so bad, just don't give any unless they need some.

well acting like a parent to your friends is ok. just means you care about them. just know that you can suggest but you can't make them take your advise.
also if they ask you for advise then do give them your opinion.

We all have a parent side to ourselves, it is what keeps us from doing crazy things.
Just encourage your parent self to act as you would like your parents to act toward you as you grow and can have more responsibility.
