New York city's list of banned animal is pretty extensive and yes it does include the family Iguanidae, as well as boas and pythons and monitors and tegus.. As the other poster said don't parade your iguana around outside and you should be fine. City animal by-laws are usually complaint driven. Have a friend call your local police and ask them. As long as you're not walking down the street with him on your shoulder it shouldn't be a problem.
