It does get really cold here in the winter. down to the 20's and 30's at worst. will they live?

if the lows are 20s and they are in the ground then they will be fine. the ground will keep the water warmer and you might get a thin layer of ice but the whole thing wouldn't freeze.

It really depends on the fish. Average goldfish should be ok, but some need warmer water. Do some research if you feel it's necessary!

Make sure you leave them in the bag they are in and let them float in the water first to get used to the temperature. At least three days or so.

They will be just fine as long as the water is at least 18" deep somewhere in your pond.
