Trumpet Vine is easily rooted in June through September with softwood cuttings. Water the vine the day before you take cuttings. Just clip off a new shoot with soft stems (no woody part). Cut at the junction of a new shoot and last year's woody stem. If this is longer than 4", cut the tip off. The best time to gather your cuttings is in the morning after you have watered the vine the day before. This insures that your cuttings are turgid (full of water). Place in a well drained growing medium as soon as possible after cutting (they dry out quickly after cutting). A good rooting medium is equal parts fine bark or peat mixed with perlite or coarse sand. Firm the medium and water before inserting cuttings. No growth hormone is necessary with Trumpet Vine. Keep the growing medium moist and mist your cuttings. Use a plastic-film tent to keep moist air about the cuttings. Misting is important to the success of propagating this vine from softwood cuttings. Layering can also be used to propagate.

They can be propagated by seed. No pretreatment is necessary, although 2 months of cold stratification will hasten germination.

I can just see you now on the Paradise Earth...you are going to be awesome in helping to restore the earth to it's former splendor! I certainly wish I had a green thumb; hopefully Jehovah will accommodate me at that time, because I truly love beauty in plants and nature. Sorry that I couldn't help with an answer though....

You don't need cuttings...just wait for the seed pods to show up in the fall. These vine are like weeds and propagate themselves freely. Plant the seed in the fall when the pods dry out.
