It will be just fine for a week without food. Feed it well for several days before you leave and do a water change the day before you leave. You can also drop the temperature of the tank 2-3 degrees while you are gone to help insure all goes well in your absence.

You don;t want to leave a tank full of feeders, that will just potentially foul the water and you won;t be there to change it.

Right now, commonly nice. I desire you have got a major tank improve deliberate, Pacu will outgrow such a lot tanks that us mere mortals own. An grownup Pacu makes a 500gal tank appear small. Pacu don't seem to be relatively agressive, however their dimension counts for anything, They must be OK with such a lot cichlids, so long as the Pacu is higher. They ordinarily are. Ian

I would recommend Algae. I know it sounds weird but African Cichlids eat the stuff. So I recommend keeping the light on for days till you have a good algae growth and then set the light on a timer for 8 hours before you leave. He will munch on algae and be fine for at least 2 weeks.
