I was at my sister's house the other day and about 10 minutes after she put her 2 year old son down for a nap a Harley with loud pipes rode by and woke her son up. Her son would not go back to sleep. My sister complained that the bike in question and several of his friends ride by several times a day and night, disrupting their childs sleep as well as their's and their neighbors peace and quiet. I countered that it is the bikers god given right to have loud pipes and that if every vehicle on the planet had loud pipes it would be a safer place since we all know that loud pipes save lives. I thought she was being petty about the loud piped biker and she thought I was being ignorant. Who's right? Hog Power baby!!!

I have a God Given right to piss everybody off with my loud *** pipes. To the people who complain about loud pipes, the idiots that drive by at night with loud music banging are worse. Harley's have had loud pipes forever and will always have loud pipes. The problem here is jealousy, no matter you do you can't make a piece of **** rice burner sound good.

I have a God Given right to piss everybody off with my extreme Ignorance and lack of respect for anyone but my pitiful self. To the people who complain about loud pipes, the idiots that drive by at night with loud music banging are worse. Harley's have had loud pipes forever and will always have loud pipes (until the badass gaywad fad goes away or noise laws get changed/enforced as a result of ignorant littledicks abusing loud pipes). The problem here is jealousy, no matter you do you can't make a piece of **** rice burner sound good (you can only make it run good and blow away any HD on the road).

What about the "God given right" to live in a peaceful quite neighborhood?
What about the "God given right" to a peaceful nights sleep before another days work?
Is that cranky 2 year old while sleeping such a treat to bikers that they need loud pipes to wake him from a nap?

Yes, you do have a right to let other people on the road know that you are there. NO!!!Better still, it is your responsibility(!) to yourself and your loved ones who rely on you, to be seen and heard by inattentive drivers on the road.

Other people as well have "God given rights". Once you see beyond yourself, you will see she is right as well. Hopefully you will be able to find a balance between your rights and the rights of others in the future.
Ride Safe

I have loud pipes on my bike...

why not suggest that she stop them next time there going past & ask if they could try to be a bit quieter going past or maybe go down a different street..( I would if someone explained I was waking there son up all the time or had to get up early for work). If this dosnt work .. she can always call the police & complain....

But if the bike is legal & loud... nothing she can do..

Your loud pipes have rattled your brain loose. The purpose of loud pipes on Hogs is to increase the "look at me" value of your ride. People in autos with the windows up, a/c on, cd's blastings, would not hear a siren so what makes you think that same person will hear your stupid loud pipes. My opinion, if you morons keep it up there will be laws passed against loud pipes one day. Legislators will not believe your lame reasoning anymore than I do.

I've been riding Harleys for well over 30 years and I still don't believe loud pipes saves lives.Paying attention is the best way to save your life.

If you want loud, install cutouts.
Then on the open road you can blast away.
Show a little respect for others early am etc in the burbs.

Loud pipes do nothing for you when a Lexus or Caddy tries to kill you....They can't hear a cops siren much less your pipes. Your just indulging yourself and annoying others.

I get on my LOUD HARLEY to get away from the weedeaters and leaf blowers all day. I'm there for a minute, these leaf blowers seem to never stop. Then there's buses, trash trucks in the middle of the night, loud cars, loud stereos, loud kids, it just seems to be hopeless, can't we all be a little more understanding. Sorry , I gotta go, the phones ringing, and it woke up the baby!

I say the "loud pipes save lives" argument is hog-wash. If the theory really worked, emergency vehicles with their lights and sirens on wouldn't get into accidents. People are tired of hearing these ultra-loud exhausts day and night. Legislation is being introduced in a number of municipalities to ban them. Loud pipes ruin rights.

Loud pipes save lives = not true, the people who say so were obviously not allowed to fart when they were kids... something anal, most harley riders are gays, too - fine with me if guys want to be gay, but why annoy other people with your "expression" ?
People with loud stereos in their cars don't hear loud pipes. Duh.
Also the loudest sound is behind the biker... some logic, if you want people to hear you coming... Duh.
Loud pipes and their riders are anal.

Sorry, we DON'T all know that loud pipes save lives. I've been in the business and a rider for over 40 years. On only two of my bikes did I alter the pipes. I've never had a bike accident. I ain't dead. Riding inteligently saves lives. Loud pipes are merely amplified brain farts.
