I've always plucked my eyebrows (strays only) and don't really have a nice shape to them. Will a professional wax job really give me a more "polished" look?

Yes it sure will. I do exactly what you do; I pluck out the stray ones when I see them. But for shaping I go to my lady at this shop over here. She does a great job to reshape them and boy does it look great and polished off!! So all you have to do is pluck them every now a then and go to the shop to reshape them as needed!!

Yes a professional can use his/her expertise and experience to shape your brows in a flattering way.

Ask for recommendations/referrals from friends.

Have an idea of what you want. (i.e. Highly stylized arches or a softer, more subtle arch? Thin or thick brows?) Look in fashion/beauty magazines for ideas. Bring photos if you want to show the person what you have in mind or what you feel reflects your personality.

Let the person know if you are on any medications that might make your skin more sensitive. (e.g. Retin-A users should never wax . Retin-A thins the skin & wax can pull off a layer of skin. Benzoyl peroxide which can make the skin more sensitive.)

To minimize pain & redness, book at least 1.5 weeks before your period & avoid caffeine at least 24 hours before the appointment.

Have aloe vera gel or a soothing balm on hand for later. (e.g. Aquaphor Healing Ointment, vitamin E oil)

Absolutely, you might be amazed to see how much a nice arch can really change the shape of your eyes. Like any good haircut, a stylist can accentuate your face shape by shaping your brows. Avoid "chop shops" go to a reputable stylist, waxing prices are pretty stable in most areas, so you needn't worry about finding a place that is too expensive. Good luck!

Heck yes!! Your eyes will totally open up. Don't go to the cheap salon down the street. Go to a really good place. Your eyebrows are everything on your face. REALLY!! One bad wax job can ruin your eyebrows for a long long time. It happened to me and I am still growing back what was lost like 7 years ago!!

The shape will come out even nice if u get them threaded instead of waxed, thats a more precise way of giving shape to eyebrows.

waxing is the only way to go, i have caterpillars for eyebrows and once i had them waxed i could not believe the difference it made on my face, it really opens your eyes. just make sure you tell them how thick or thin you want them. it does hurt a little but i prefer waxing than plucking that hurts way too much. have fun waxing.

YESSSSSs your eyebrows will be in tip top shape if u get them waxed and then from there u can either keep getting them plucked everytime it gets worse or pluck and when u cant enymore get them waxed to perfect shape again
