I don't have them any more, but I used to collect them and had them divided by year and mint mark. It was so long ago I don't remember what years I had but at the time I knew I was only missing a couple of the more rare ones. I probably had close to 1000 if not more.

During a family move they were lost and I never got back into it.

I have one of each from 1909 to 1958. I put that set together many years ago. I am not much of a cent person except for large cents. As for being eccentric, I am not so sure you are, unless you have several 100 thousand of them. Large stashes are showing up all the time and most people that saved them are just normal folks that liked to save wheat cents.

The fact you think eccentricity is measured by the number of wheat pennies a person has laying around (or their personal knowledge of that fact) pretty much makes you quite eccentric.

I too am a collector of wheat cents but I do not keep my collection at home, I store them in a bank safe deposit box.
I have several hundred but they are organized by date and mint mark. I also have a high grade set that I am building. I pretty much quit getting them from circulation years ago.

So my question is are you collecting them or are you hoarding them?

Have fun which every you are doing.

If you were really eccentric you would be making giant plywood mazes for rabbits in your lawn, not posting on Yahoo Answers...

Money is only good if you can spend it!

I don't believe this, so don't yell at me. Someone told me that once. I don't collect coins but I don't knock people that do either.

None, unfortunately--and I'd love to get one from my birth year.
