Rachel: Wrong on both numbers. Nearly all 6.6 billion DO live ON the world. The number who live underground, IN the world (which seems the only way your distinction makes sense), is not zero, but it's certainly not anywhere near half of us.

None live on the world. How many live in the world? All together there are 3 billion people in the world.

the latest figure has not been published but it was 6.5 billion last count so i guess 7 billion????
