1000 points and 1.00 will get you a cup of coffee. You get two points for each question you answer. You get 10 points if your answer is chosen as "best answer" You usually get one point for just logging on to Yahoo Answers. Sometimes you may get more for just logging on. Each question you ask cost you 5 points. You can click on anyones avatar and see how many points they have accumulated. This is generally a good way to tell who provides the most answers. The more questions you ask, the more points you receive, etc. Points are generally a good thing.

points are good.... it doesnt really mean anything... if you like answering questions then the higher points you get the more questions you are able to answer because it puts you in a higher group. when you ask questions, you lose 5 points! when you answer you get +2
