Because she's used to yelling your name after 16 years of doing it, and has only been with the new guy 8 months. She's used to you being in the crisis or causing crisis in her life, so your name naturally slipped out.

Okay let me see if I fully understand. Her new boyfriend was driving and a car almost hit them. And when she got scared she yelled your name and not his? If that's what happen then sounds like she just yelled your name because she's use to you being there to protect her. It has nothing to do with her being in love with you or how she feels. It's just that it's a habit for her to yell your name in a time of need. After 16 years of feeling protected by someone it's kind of hard to not yell for them or want them to come to your rescue.

This happens frequently.... but there is something much bigger here . Have you stopped to think about why she felt the need to tell you this??? She very easily could have left that out of the conversation. Just maybe she's now recognizing that heart throb of a co worker isn't all that she had thought he would be , and is giving you a subtle clue to let you know that she screwed up . Also, she may have shouted your name intentionally to let LoverBoy know the same thing.

Was in a similar situation. Very similar.
She is a mess. Stay away. No wait RUN AWAY!!!
But really.... take care of yourself and your kids right now dude. Things will get better. Go out and date. Just for fun, and take up some new hobbies that let you explore stuff that is outside of your normal "comfort zone". Forget the ex. She is a trainwreck looking for a place to happen...:-)
You don't want to be that place....
Good luck.

She was with you a long time. You must still have a connection to her. After all you did have three children together. The both of you will have some type of relationship because of the children. Don't read to much into this.

Play it up, you might get some where u obviously want to go. Than see what happens to that 8 month long relationship. She still thinks of you as her protector and that's why she screamed.

It doesn't matter why she yelled your name, there was no reason for it. It just popped out. It means nothing. Don't try to read something into it that isn't there. She thought it was funny and that's about it.

Its a habit, but she may have feelings for you still, sounds like you do but if you care about yourself you will let her beg you back. When me and my husband got married after 2 years and I was divorced for 2 years I was still afraid to say his name in my sleep or something, because I use to depend on him.
