avg picks it up: C:\WINDOWS\system 32\shell64.dll. i need to know how to remove it from my laptop without having to reinstall windows....can anyone help me??

If AVG, fails to remove the virus, you can run an "online scanner direct from the server of Kaspersky Lab Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. Will not conflict with AVG. Scan can take upto two hours depending on how many running processes and how many programs you have installed. Complete the scan and all viruses found will be killed in real time. Reboot after.

You need good antivirus and antispyware software to get rid of this junk. Google offers a very nice free software package that includes Norton AntiVirus. I have used this package with good success. It also comes with a free spyware scanner and lots of other free goodies. And you can trust it because it doesn't come from some no-name company. You can get it here:

With a trojan lasso?

sorry, guy - not a virus/worm/trojan horse expert.

But I find if I google something, there's invariably someone who has posted how to fix it.
