Don't worry, at my 20 week ultrasound they said that baby was head down, but she commented that it didn't really matter at this point anyway.... I don't really think they start to worry about it until after 36 weeks. As for the cord, any baby can get it wrapped around the neck, but it usually isn't really a big deal. My son's was wrapped around his neck, and the midwife just pulled it off when the head came out.... Good Luck!

You can't even make a diagnoses of breech at 24 weeks, it is normal at 24 weeks. 97% of babies are head down by 38 weeks.
Having the cord wrapped around the neck is protective for the baby, it prevents a long cord from coming out of the cervix before the baby, called a cord prolapse. Cord prolapse can cause death. The neck is the smallest and soft part of the baby, having the cord around the neck prevents the cord from becoming pinched against the pelvis during birth, it is it pinched hard enough the baby will be deprived of oxygen. Babies do not breathe until they are delivered they get all their oxygen from the cord, hence you can not choke a baby by applying pressure to their throat, you can cut off oxygen by having the cord come out first or being pinched. Until a baby has drawn several breathes the blood supply to the baby is not shut down, so even if the cord was wrapped hard enough to stop a baby from drawing breath they would still receive amply oxygen as long as the cord has not been compromised (or cut by some moron).
Cord around the neck is normal and protective, it is not a medical emergency.

I'm 22 weeks and my little girl is breech right now. My NMW seems to think she will turn and has plenty of time to. I don't think there's a danger of the cord getting wrapped around the neck while they still have this much room to move around. In fact the only time I have heard of the cord getting wrapped is after the water broke. That doesn't mean that it doesn't happen before then, but now that you have brought it up I'm asking the MW about it my next appointment.

I'm totally surprised that anyone would use the word breech when referring to a 24 week old fetus. Girl, your baby will do sommersaults for the next month or two before settling down. The cord will wrap around his neck. And unwrap. And wrap around an ankle. Go between his legs. Will he die from it? In all likelihood, NO.

Your baby has plenty of time to move, i'm 35 weeks pregnant and my baby is still breech. As for the cord issue my son was born with the cord round his neck twice and he was head down from very early on in the pregnancy so you can't tell.

Is 24 weeks a typo? The reason I ask is that at 24 weeks, your baby has LOTS of moving ahead of him. Don't worry at all about him moving, it's totally normal and cord-incidents aren't as common as you think. At 24 weeks your baby is going to be in and out of breech and birth position a lot.
At 34 weeks, there's not as much moving ahead of your baby. There is a chance that he can move into position, and you'll definitely feel it!
If you're really worried about the cord getting tangled, might I suggest that you talk to your doctor? He should be able to sit you down and help squash some of your fears.

I am 22 weeks pregnant and my baby is breech also. My doctor said not to worry about it since many babies will turn when it is time.

he will move about a 100 different times between now and then. You still have awhile to go and the baby switches positions a lot, and will also get bigger, and need to switch. I promise you - now if you were 38 weeks, I might - and I say might because even then the baby will move, be a little concerned.
