the first time i had contact with my father i was 16 years old and since then he has been back and forth to jail at least 3 times (i'm 20 now). he missed out on everything! even my first born. I have never sent him a fathers day card. but then again I've only gotten one birthday card from him and he wrote happy 19th birthday when i was only 18! I don't really talk to him anymore, he's just a headache. I would tell you that it's completly up to you. if you want a relationship with him them send him one. but if you don't really want to deal with him. leave it be and say forget it. I think everyone deserves a father, but not all fathers deserve a child. so make up your own mind. your the one who has to deal with the decicion. hope you choose the right one.

Yes send him a card. Find one that have the right words for him. Maybe one that just has (Hope you have a good Father's Day.) Even if he has been a worthless Dad he is your Father. and if there is another who has been in your life and has taken care of you please give him the best Father Day card you can find.

Hi its not about being a bigger person its about how you feel you want your relationship to go with your father. My parents never even married, in fact they were never an item 36 yrs ago, i found my dad when i was 19 but lost contact 3yrs later when i moved from uk to malta, im now try to search for him and his family as i would like to be friends, see how you really feel you want things to go and its not a dumb question, good luck angi

It's hard to find "I'm trying to rub in that I'm the bigger person cards".
But you could send a think about you card - that true- other wise you wouldn't have posted the question.

No, I wouldn't. Sending a card doesn't make you the bigger person.

He is still my dad whether he was there for me or not.He would still have a place in my heart and I would still send him a card.I would like that better then not sending him one at all.So he can see that I have nothing against him.

I feel Father's Day is a day to honor your father and thank him for all he has done for you and for helping you become the person you are today.....if my father didn't do this for me. I wouldn't have anything to acknowledge on father's day and therefor I would not send a card.

well to start it's a shame this happened.

but yes i would keep sending cards and hope someday he realises if not for him you wouldn't be born, and he should
do the best he can for you.

how either parent can be like this i'll never know

Yes well at least I would, your Dad might want you to send him something or he might not but either way it would show that you are a good person- well in my opinion! =]
