Typical failure rate for the average person on oral contraceptives (ie the birth control pill) is 2%.

So, you have a 1 in 50 chance of getting pregnant if partner is taking the pill correctly.

Please be mindful that your partner is taking the pill correctly every day, at the same time, and not taking any other medication that could cause it to lose its effectiveness. Watch out for the over the counter medication that is in lots of cold medicines both rx and otc -- guiafenesin (brand name robitussin). It can increase the chances a woman will get pregnant.

Failure rates for the WITHDRAWAL method are around 20%. That means you would have a 1 IN 5 chance of getting pregnant.

Adding an addition method of birth control is always a good idea though...although it may not up your chances to say 1 in 55, ywim? You could also use spermacide, avoid intercourse during the woman's fertile times of the month when she would be ovulating and egg would be viable, use condoms, etc.

I highly recommend using condoms if not in a longterm monogamous relationship, where STD testing has been done.

If you take your birth control pill every day at roughly the same time and are not taking any drugs that would alter the effects, it is 99.97% effective. "Pulling out" is an old-fashioned method that has worked well for some people for years, but the majority of the actual sperm is in the beginning of the ejaculate. There IS sperm in pre-ejaculate fluid.

Your chances of getting pregnant are virtually nil, but oral contraceptives and pulling out will not protect you from STD's, crabs, etc. End of lecture.

BC are not 100% protection even when taken as directed. And precum can get your pregnant. However, your chances are slim that pregnancy will occur. Not to sound like a prune, but if your not ready to have kids or be attached to that person forever than you should reconsider your views on sex. Also, please wear a condom to prevent STD.

Pulling out is not an effective form of birth control. If you're using BC properly, you should be protected pretty well, but remember, it's only 99% effective, and doesn't protect against STDs.

You should be Okay with the pill, but it is still not 100%. As for the other it's not the quantity its the quality. If they are healthy they can swim a while, so there is still a good chance.

"Precum" ONLY contains sperm if the male has not urinated after the last sexual encounter. They usually survive for around 24 hours or until passed through urine. Be sure to remind your partner to "clear out" afterwards!

The pill is not 100% that you will not get pregnant. Most cases you won't but there still is a chance. Trust me I know from experience.

Pre ejaculatory fluid contains thousands of sperm, however, if you are using the pill correctly, chances are slim to none that you would become pregnant.

If you take the pill every day, you should be fine. That's what birth control is for.
