If anyone has accomplished this, i wish to know how
If anyone thinks it is possible, then again i would wish to know how
Windows 3.11 resides on FAT16 platform (MSDOS 6.22)
The Pentium 4 is a 32 bit processor, will it allow FAT16
which i guess it should
but then where do i get the various device drivers for Windows 3.11
I need this real bad as I am unable to get further support for IDE cards in the original 40486 DX2 workstations & time is running out
Proprietary software is used to run these workstations & if anyone could guide me in this direction
I have been able to go upto Pentium 1, 200 MHz ... no higher & any help would be greatly appreciated

If there is any ambiguity, it is Windows 3.11 > Windows For Workgroups ... version

Why not run it in a virtual machine?
VM ware gives away a player and there are articles on creating your own virtual machines via VMx builder @ http://petruska.stardock.net/Software/VMware.html
or http://bochs.sourceforge.net/ All freeware.

You can make an image of your current 3.11 and convert it to the VM platform too with P2V (physical 2 virtual).

I'm a little confused... other video drivers (and maybe DOS drivers for the CD-ROM) what would you need? Windows 3.11 would just ignore stuff like USB and you could use the most generic IDE drivers available. Certainly you ought to be able to run in standard mode, if not 386 enhanced mode.

I'll admit I haven't tried, this is just off the top of my head...

As for Windows 3.11, I think you should use it on a pentium 1 computer. I'm not sure how to install it, but you can search for a CD online at www.froogle.com. Just search for the Windows 3.11 install CD and maybe someone is selling it for a low price.
