MAybe say something like .. I was watching this show on tv, and they were talking about body types. And this woman on there look just like you, they made her over with clothes that looked like........blah blah blah...
That is the route I would take but , that is because I would not want to hurt her feelings. If she is really skinny, then I would be stright up, and say hey! You need to quit shopping in the kids section....

I wouldn't say anything. If somebody wants to wear something that doesn't fit then that's their choice. I prefer to shop for comfort first.

My sister in law told my brother in laws gf that it looked like she swallowed an inner tube! She has muffin top pretty bad.
