Oy vey, as someone who lives in NY and sees shows like it's her job, I can't believe the answers people are giving! Annie Get Your Gun? That closed about 4-5 years ago!

Look, it sounds as if you don't go to NY very often so go see something that you can't see in your hometown. Jersey Boys, Wicked, and Spelling Bee all have US tours. Chances are, you'll be able to see the same productions wherever you live. Now why would you make the trip all the way over to NY to see the same shows that you can see at home? I know I wouldn't!

I suggest the following that will be open in September:
The Drowsy Chaperone. It's about a man who loves musicals, and in particular, the Drowsy Chaperone. So as he tells the audience about this musical and its stars, the musical comes to life in front of him. There is a stock drunk (who is played by Beth Leavel, who won the Tony for this role) who is very akin to Karen Walker on Will & Grace. Then there is the Latin lover, Aldolfo, who is played by an actor who was nominated for a Tony for this particular role. The show is GREAT fun! I highly suggest it.

Xanadu is based upon the movie of the same title. Kira, a Greek muse, comes to Earth to inspire a young man to open up Xanadu. The great thing about this show is that it takes place on roller skates! The show is totally campy and wildly fun! I suggest getting the onstage seating so that you can sit onstage with the actors!

I would also suggest The Ritz and Old Acquaintance which are comedies which will surely make you pee in your pants!!!

You will surely have unique experiences if you see these shows which you won't be able to see any where else. It's a true one-of-a-kind experience.

Well, some of the shows posted here you can't see... because they aren't on Broadway anymore!

As for current shows, it depends on what you like. If you want fluffy, I would go for Wicked or Legally Blonde. If you want "a classic", I would recommend Chicago, Grease, A Chorus Line or Les Miz. If you want a new-classic show, I would recommed Spring Awakening, Drowsy Chaperone, Curtains, or the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. If you want to laugh REALLY hard, I would recommend Avenue Q or Spamalot (I highly recommed t hem both!).

And, last but not least, if you find yourself in NYC around November, check out the new Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein!

Have a blast!

Anything Disney would be good, but some other suggestions are...

Wicked (if you want fantasy)
Avenue Q (if you want humor)
The Phantom of the Opera (if you want suppense)

Other than that, I personally think you should check out some other ones.

legally blonde!! if you liked the movie, this is much better. the music is great and they must have had an amazing creative designer, because the set is amazing and scene changes are seamless. it's great. but if everything must be politically correct for you, then don't see it. it was good, though. really good.
