How easy would it be to replace a standard transmission with an automatic transmission?

Why would you even want to change it?
Standard is way more fun to drive.
Automatic...sucks!
Seriously. if something was build as a standard...leave it as is.
You don't want to effect the safey of the vehicle...just sell it and buy and automatic.

yeah get something to hold the transmissions cuz the yare heavy and all you have to do is replace the manual shafts with automatics and then insert the transmission

Yea take out the standard trans.

You can use the old brake pedal, you will want to remove or tie up the old clutch pedal.

You will need a floor shifter, I prefer the B&M ratchet shifter.

Thats pretty much it.

It is not that difficult, depending on the year make and model of the vehicle. I would suggest you go see a mechanic. The question is why would you do that.?

It's not just the transmission....it's all the computer stuff and wiring, and pedals, etc. It's pretty impractical.

i've done it once with my dad... i'll never do it again. it is so much work. we had to hired a mechanic to finish the job :)
