You knew this question was coming, especially since Harrison has a ring now. Before you jump the gun and say Rice, take a look at Harrison's career stats (not that I'm a Harrison fan). If I'm not mistaken, he may be on a pace to break Rice's records if he plays long enough (and he isn't showing any signs of slowing down or getting injured). These are two of the most talented, team-oriented, humble, yet confident players I have witnessed in the NFL. They both are tops, but who would you choose in his prime?

Don't forget Harrison got 143 receptions in one season.

Alright.
12 answers so far. Only 1 for Harrison. I'll give it a little longer and then I'll pick the best answer.

Well, you might want Harrison....but I also have to choose Jerry Rice!
I have NEVER seen a receiver with the vision Rice possessed on the field that had the tools to use that vision and be just right where the quarterback wanted him to be nearly every time...then you have his preparation(which I understand Harrison does pretty well himself at)...daily routines, and amazing stamina drills. You show me how Harrison prepares for a game better...I'll give him the nod....
Rice in his prime was unstoppable!

Don Huston, the first great NFL receiver, and along with Raymond Berry one of the two receivers on the NFL 50th Anniversary Team in 1969, said Rice was better than he was... and this was in 1989. Just before Hutson's death, he and Rice were named the receivers on the 75th Anniversary Team in 1994. And that was also well before Rice piled up, and piled on, the career records. Harrison is really good, and any team would be lucky to have him, but the title of Greatest Player Ever could go to Rice, if not to Jim Brown or Walter Payton.

Jerry Rice without a doubt although Harrison is very good as well... CBs hated going against Rice because he was that good. Even when he left the 49ers is still put up some decent numbers with the Raiders.

U Got to go with rice man. Not only does he have all the records, and three rings, one of which he was an mvp, he also has played incredible in the playoffs and the superbowl. Marvin has played great during the season but hasn't done anything post season. They say the best players play the best on the biggest stage, and know one has done it better than rice.

It seems you really like Harrison even though you state your not a fan. It dosn't really matter. I'd pick Rice, yes, Harrison is on a record breaking track, but hes still not even CLOSE to breaking rice's stats, and Harrison has one ring, Rice has 3

I'll take Starvin' Marvin Harrison. He's hungry to play and he always wants the ball. He may never show it but Peyton is sure to give him his reps. Marvins already breaking some of Jerry's records and i'm sure he would love for Marvin to do it. They are both First Class Athletes with First Class Attitudes. I see a lot of you talk about how he doesn't have the stats yet and he only has on ring but the point is that he still has several years left in him if he stays healthy. He shows no signs of slowing down and it will only be a matter of time before he gets the records....Peyton at QB or not.

GO COLTS!!!

If I had to choose now, I would go with Harrison. Rice had a great prime. Harrison is in his prime, and appears to have a so called 'longer' prime then Rice did. After Rice's injury in '97, he kind of sizzled out in San Francisco. He came back and had two outstanding years (for his age of 39-40) in Oakland in '01 and '02. But what turns me away from Rice, is that he kept trying to play. The man had a great career, and then just kept on playing. His numbers at the end of his career are weak. Yes, he was in his middle 40's. But I'm the type of person that likes a player who knows when he is done and can accept it. Harrison already matched the years of 100 receptions that Rice has (4) for his career. Plus, Harrison also has 8 seasons in a row with double digit touchdowns!

Both receivers had/have GREATTT quarterbacks. Both of which are hall of fame. I am kind of interested to see how they would do with the offense of the Baltimore Ravens or the Detroit Lions. Hell, even the Cleveland Browns.

Rice. He was bigger, and much better in the red zone. Harrison is a shrimp, but he's still very good. I doubt Harrison would be talked about as much if he'd been playing for the Raiders all these years. Manning has alot to do with his success.

Rice. He would have been a Hall of Famer just about anywhere. Harrison has been great in his situation. i.e Manning and a dome. Rice could play anywhere and rarely disappeared in big games. Like Harrison has for most of his career.

I think we are missing an important difference between 2 of the best WR to play the game!

The Patriot Rules! (As I love to call them!) You can't touch a WR after 5yards now days, and lets face it the rule was written to directly help Harrison! The Pats would mug him in the old days and he would disappear in the playoffs. Heck this year I don't recall Harrison lighting it up either.

Rice is undoubtedly the best EVER! The SB trophies, SB MVP(s) (not sure on count!), not to mention every receiving record that matters!
