Longhorn Alpha Build 4008, completed in 2001 (which screenshots publically available, mind you) featured:

-The Aero effect years before Apple's "Aqua" effect.
-The sidebar with gadgets, NOT ONLY before Apple's Dashboard, but also before Yahoo's Konfobulator (which Apple bought from Yahoo, and called it "Dashboard")

The Finder tool in the Start Menu was available from Microsoft.com as a free download add-on to XP a year and a half (18 months) before it shipped with OSX.

Microsoft Live Labs began working on its new SeaDragon technology 2 years before Apple began work on their "Resolution Independence".

The list can continue but The point is: Do some research before claiming that Windows is "behind Mac" or "copies Mac". The only way Apple survives is by copying Microsoft's Tech Previews and Alpha Builds, and getting their own version out on the market beforehand.

Well the answer is MAYBE.. You need to check to see that XP drivers for the particular notebook are available from the manufacture. If they are then you can indeed instal XP and get everything working.

There are several notebooks out now that have no support for XP as they were only shipped with Vista and there are no drivers for XP that can be obtained for them.

Windows XP disc is needed for the doing in the answer for the question. Installing it using the Vista system in which is newer of ways and advance tech to beheld unwise in a certain way into which you are disorganized but besides the point. Basically your just putting in disc and installing on fresh laptop.

Vista is a pos operating system, will Bill Gates ever have an original thought? If you've ever seen OSx you'll understand why I say that. XP is a much for stable operating system, I would do a fresh install of xp flushing vista down the binary toilet.

It is possible however you will need to purchase a Full Version of the Operating System and not the Upgrade.

(Obviously you won't be UPgrading.)

Check out eBay for Full Version's of XP w/SP2 and you should be able to get one for about 60 to 90 bucks which beats Best Buy's price of $150 to $200 for the full version.

Yes, odds are Windows XP will detect all of the devices on that system (thats what Beta Testing was for), but it wouldn't hurt to check the website of that laptop and make sure they do have Windows XP Drivers for all the devices of that Laptop model just incase something does not install and or to update your Drivers/Bios/Software if need be.

yes. once you purchase and insert your XP disc in your drive, you have the option of deleting the partition that Vista is installed on. it will format and erase Vista from your drive.

you would have to purchase the xp software and then install it, but in order to do so, you would lose everything on your hard drive. in can be done.
