I went into labor last week and the doctors gave me 3shots to stop my contractions and now I am loosing chunks of my mucus plug but there isn't any bloody show with it. When should the bloody show start?

Your mucous plug is teh same thing as b;loody show. it is sometimes referred to as that because many women find theirs to have blood streaks in it. Same thing either way. Mine wasnt bloodied either time.

Any time a doctor does anything to your cervix you can expect bleeding. That being understood, you can lose your mucus plug all at once or over a course of several days/weeks. It does not mean labor is imminent, but could indicate that the cervix is dilating and your body is preparing for labor. With my first pregnancy mine started coming out on a Friday evening, continued through Saturday, and my water broke Sunday morning. Call your doctor if you want confirmation that its the plug...otherwise just wait for the big signs, like contractions or your water breaking. When it's time...you'll know!

Loosing your plug is the same thing as bloody show. It's called that because many women have streaks of bright red, pink, or brownish blood in it. I didn't, mine was just yucky and clear, but my sister-in-law told us that her's was spotted with bright red blood. It scared her, so she called her dr, who said it was fine.

I started dialating at 36 weeks, and started loosing my plug at about 38. I started effacing at roughly the same time, maybe earlier, than I started dialating. I went to 10 days overdue, and was only 1 cm, 70%. I never went into labor at all, and ended up having a cesarean, because my son was breech.

Sounds like you will have your baby early, but there's no need to go to the hospital again tonight. You may loose your plug in bits for hte next 2 weeks before labor starts up again. The mucus plug actually regenerates itself slowly, so even though it may seem like you've lost it all, there's still some up there.

If it would make you feel better, by all means call the doctor, and if anythign else happens, like your water breaks or contractions start again, call the hospital or your dr. They will likely want you to come right in if that happens.

Good luck!

i've had preterm labor too - at 30 weeks was hospitalized. guess what? i was sure she would come early but i'm 38 weeks and still waiting. AND i've been at 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced for over a month! also i've lost my mucus plug four different times: lost bits at 30 weeks, a big 4-inch chunk at 33 weeks, a big 3-inch chunk at 37 weeks and i'm still losing bits every day. a few days ago a chunk had blood in it. it's so frustrating when women insist that the show or plug means labor is near! it doesn't!

With one of my babies, I didn't have any bloody show until 20 minutes before she was born. With the others, it was the morning of or day before delivery. I don't think there is any hard-and-fast rule.

By the way, I knew a lady who walked around without a mucus plug and 3 cm dialated for 4 weeks before she had the baby. Don't count your chickens...you'll probably go full term.

When i went into labor my mucous plug broke and it was bloody, I gave birth that night. I would call your doctor ask him and he will probably tell you to go in to get chacked just in case.

It sounds normal. The mucus can start coming away weeks before you are ready to give birth.

The show is not necessarily bloody. You are now in the early stages of labour - head off to the hospital. Deep breaths now!!! Good luck x

First at 38 weeks it is ok to deliver so you have 2 weeks to go !!!!
For those 2 weeks you have to lay down and relax, don't clean, don't be on your foot for to long just relax !!
