I'm so sorry you are going through this bad patch. I can only offer a few suggestions which you may have already tried, but here they are just in case they help.
Ask for a free interview with a local solicitor (most offer this service) to check that your ex is only taking what she is entitled to.
If you can't sell the house at the moment, perhaps you could take a lodger or two to help pay the bills.
Passing the time with no money - that's a toughie! Going for walks in the park or in nearby countryside, visiting museums etc which have free entry, going to the public library, joining a charity as a volunteer, gardening.
Any of these ideas help? I do hope things get better for you soon - life can be a you-know-what sometimes.

Hi there,

Although, I haven't personally gone through what you are, my father went through something similar with my mother.

Some of the things people have already mentioned about what you could possibly do about your ex, sound fairly good. In my opinion, I'd make her wait for the money, you've got to put yourself first now. And like someone mentioned, get the locks changed. Not through fear of finding her moved in with her new boyfriend, but to come home and finding half (or all of) your stuff gone!!

Keep looking for a new job, something that might pay better.

Anyway, that wasn't your question. Stuff to do when your basically skint?

You obviously have a computer, maybe you could do something like writing a novel or a bunch of short stories. Its something I do, and it helps me relieve stress and anger as well as bordem.

You need to take up a hobby, something like reading, a good book can transform hours of your life. If you don't have any money for books, join your local libary, there are several hours you could kill just there. And you can always sit in there and read, if you fancy a change of scenery!

Take up walking . . . find all the nice little places near where you live, that you didn't realise existed. And learn to people watch. Watching people going about the everyday life can be interesting. lol.

Re-watch all the films you have. Sorting through your personal things and having a general clean out or tidying up. Find all those things that you forgot you had.

Thats the best I can think of at the moment. I hope some of that helped. . .

Oh yeah, and if you need something, try joining your local freecycle group. You never know what you could find on there.

Take care, and keep your chin up. You'll come out the other end a stronger person!!

There was this guy at a bar, just looking at his drink. He stays like that for half of an hour.

Then, this big trouble-making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, and just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, "Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand to see a man cry."

"No, it's not that. This day is the worst of my life. First, I fall asleep, and I go late to my office. My boss, outrageous, fires me. When I leave the building, to my car, I found out it was stolen. The police said that they can do nothing. I get a cab to return home, and when I leave it, I remember I left my wallet and credit cards in the cab. The cab driver just drives away."

"I go inside my home, and when I get there, I find my girlfriend in bed with the gardener. I leave the house, and come to this bar. And just when I was thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up and drink my poison."

(Never hurts to laugh a little.)

We all have difficult times in our lives. First you need to calm down, meditate, and pray. Then you need to find a legit unemployment office or Job placement staffing in your area.

Make sure your more cautious in you relationships with other people because they can be ruthless.

Make sure you not afraid to ask or borrow money from friends. If they are true friends it wont be a big deal.

Have faith in your abilities, be confident no matter what, and make sure you succeed so much that you ex-girl will want you back. When she does, tell her, "NO" and mean it(don't give in)

Start your new life over the right way without her, and let her know that her trifling butt hasn't affected you in any way.
(that pisses people off when they see that your successful)

Be the winner no matter what you go through!!!

Times are hard we all go through rough patches.Just gotta learn from mistakes. To pass time I would get a 2nd job. It'll keep you busy plus you'll be more financially stable.I also, would think of having your ex pay some of that debt. wether you need to take legal action or not.You should wait however til she takes her name of the mortage though. If that dosen't quite work maybe have her take over house pymt or sell the house otherwise, you'll be so strapped for money bancruptcy could be the only other option.

You should not starve if you are living in the UK. Have you heard of the Freegan life-style? Freegans are those who live on the waste generated by our consumerist society. We do not believe in the profligate waste generated by throwing away perfectly good food and other products. Read about us in http://observer.guardian.co.uk/cash/story/0,6903,1091014,00.html
You may not be a freegan from conviction but out of necessity. At least it's better than starving.

Ummm...really sorry to hear that. My advice to you, to pass time, and make money is to join some GPT sites. These are absolutly addicting. (at least they are to me lol) GPT sites pay you to do surveys and free trials. Here are a few that I like:
http://www.knightsfortune.com
http://www.treasuretrooper.com/237872
Or, just do a search on 'gpt site' and you'll come up with a bunch. I hope that helps, and good luck to you in the future =)

Simple!
Just get out of this ; move somewhere else and start new life, new friends, new job and make sure you won't see anything or anybody that reminds you of this no-life ; otherwise you will keep on spinning in the same circle.

Cheers
